COCA Announces Fall & Winter/Spring Classes

COCA is excited to announce its fall and winter/spring classes, packed with opportunities for aspiring artists in dance, theatre, and voice, designed to offer a rich, integrated educational experience.

Voice with Dr. Philip Woodmore

Dr. Philip Woodmore’s revamped voice curriculum starts with an introductory class that covers music reading and vocal techniques in musical theatre and pop music. Students will then progress through foundational singing techniques, deeper exploration of musical theatre, and music literacy. The program culminates in a repertory class to build audition portfolios for college or professional opportunities. Advanced students can also audition for the Allegro Vocal Companies for high-level performance experience.

Dance with Antonio Douthit-Boyd

Antonio Douthit-Boyd proudly introduces the Ballet Eclectica Apprenticeship Company, an exciting new program crafted to prepare students for professional dance careers. Participants will have the incredible opportunity to work with renowned choreographers and perform in a prestigious repertory. This fall, we’re thrilled to welcome the legendary Louise Nadeau, who will be teaching advanced ballet and pointe classes. Additionally, our Boys Ballet class continues to empower young male dancers, helping them develop both their technique and self-confidence.

Theatre with Shawna Flanigan

Shawna Flanigan’s new theatre classes include Audition Strategy for Teens & Adults, which covers resume preparation, monologue selection, and audition techniques. Setting the Stage delves into significant plays, playwrights, and theatre innovators through readings, discussions, and field trips to live productions. These classes are designed to enhance the skills of actors, directors, dramaturgs, and other theatre professionals.

Streamlined Artistic Approach

This semester, COCA’s artistic directors have organized many classes in sequence to minimize commutes and enhance student’s learning opportunities.
