COCA is excited to welcome distinguished alum Will Bonfiglio as the new Artistic Director of Theatre. Will brings years of experience in acting, directing, playwriting, and producing. Throughout his career, he’s served in various roles at COCA, including Stage Manager, Teaching Artist, and Director of COCAbiz. Will is ready to lead our Theatre program into an exciting new era!
Will’s journey with COCA began as a student, and he recalls his time performing in Seussical as one of his favorite memories.
“COCA has been integral to my growth, both artistically and professionally,” Bonfiglio shares. “The mission and the people here drew me back.”
In his new role, Will is responsible for directing the Theatre Program’s classes, producing productions, and managing guest artists.
“I’m excited to help steer the Theatre Program into its next chapter and give back to a place that shaped me,” says Bonfiglio.
This Winter/Spring, Will is teaching two engaging courses: Setting the Stage (dramatic literature) and Dramaturgy & Directing. His passion for the arts and commitment to fostering empathy through theatre will inspire students to grow both creatively and personally.
When asked why he believes in the power of artistic education, Will explains: “In our divided world, empathy is essential. The arts allow us to build community, bridge divides, and understand one another in a deeper way.”
He adds, “I’m thrilled to be back at COCA and incredibly grateful for this full-circle moment. I can’t wait to bring my energy and knowledge to this role and work alongside our talented students.”
